After experiencing a friend’s AEV-equipped Unlimited, we opted for an AEV 3.5-inch DualSport RS suspension system that‘s completely bolt on… The AEV parts work stunningly well.
The combination of Cummins low-end torque, aggressive trail tires and huge ground clearance was almost unstoppable — and the view was amazing. We were literally looking down on the rooftops of passing Jeeps.
The crew split up and covered multiple trails on Wednesday. Kent took on Flat Iron Mesa while Jeff and Charlie covered Fins & Things. Both trails offer incredible landscape views of skylines, rock formations, mountainous terrain and green vegetation.

Tuesday was spent climbing through the trails of Moab with the AEV Ram Concept truck. The AEV Ram is a 2500 full size pickup complete with AEV High Clearance Fender Flares, AEV 3.0″ DualSport Suspension lift, AEV 17×10 Katla Wheels, 40″ BFG Mud Terrain KM2 Tires and the AEV Ram Front Bumper. After a number of years working with the Wrangler, we recognized that there was a void in the industry for a full-size off-road truck that offers more cargo capacity and towing capability, particularly in the growing overland travel market with its requirements for extended range, payload and towing. This is the second trip to Moab with the AEV Ram since introducing it at SEMA in 2013. Stay updated on AEV Ram updates by signing up for our newsletter here.

Every year AEV invites customers to partake on an exclusive trail ride at Easter Jeep Safari. On Monday we set out for Black Dragon Canyon near Green River, Utah. It’s a bit different than your typical Moab trail ride – it’s really off the beaten path and a unique place to tour. One of our first stops included a visit to the petroglyphs that adorn the canyon walls of the wash. It is incredibly humbling to reflect on what once was part of this land.

The AEV JK Rear Vision System utilizes an OEM-validated camera with CCD technology for superior daytime image crispness and nighttime brightness, providing enhanced visibility while backing up under any condition.
The R&T staff drives and performance tests hundreds of new cars every year. Because we don’t have time to give each one the full review treatment, we share select logbook notes here, in a quick, easily-digested format. Unless noted otherwise, each test car is in the office for two weeks and is driven by every member of the editorial staff. Each staffer spends at least one day, but often more, in each car.
Will you be attending the Easter Jeep Safari in Moab, Utah this year? If you are, we would love to have you come out and join us on the trail for a day. We will be on the following trails, on these days:
Tuesday April 15, 2014
Wednesday April 16, 2014
Thursday April 17, 2014
Friday April 18, 2014
Anyone who is interested in joining us can register on the Red Rock 4-Wheelers website at http://www.rr4w.com Since trail registrations tend to fill up quickly, we strongly encourage you to sign-up as soon as possible. We hope to see you in Moab!
