Product FAQs

Is the AEV Snorkel Kit compatible with all trim levels?

Absolutely. The AEV Snorkel Kit is compatible with ALL GMC Canyon trim levels.

Is the AEV Snorkel just for deep water crossings?

That’s the popular perception, but the AEV Snorkel Kit does much more. In dry or dusty environments like the Southwest, these conditions are a bigger hazard to your air intake than water, or at the very least, a more persistent issue. Dusty conditions can wreak havoc on your air filter, choking your engine and reducing performance.

Will the AEV Snorkel Kit void my warranty?

No, adding the AEV Snorkel Kit will not void your factory warranty. In fact, the AEV Snorkel Kit is available as a GM dealer-installed accessory for Colorado and Canyon!

How difficult is the installation?

While the installation does require some cutting for the snorkel body to pass through the fender, we supply a template to help put your mind at ease when cutting the fender. After that, the rest of the installation is very straight forward.

For ease of installation, we recommend having a professional evacuate and disconnect your AC lines. While it is not entirely necessary to disconnect the AC lines to complete the installation, it does make things considerably easier.

If you are still unsure whether it’s something you want to take on or not, we recommend contacting one of our Authorized AEV Dealers for a professional installation quote. If you need help locating a dealer, please use our Authorized AEV Dealer map or contact us at (248) 926-0256 for assistance.

Won’t rain and snow get into my engine when I drive down the road?

The air ram inlet used in this kit is designed so that incoming rain will hit the back wall of the air ram and then get channeled into carefully designed drains. This is a critical design feature and one that shouldn’t be ignored. Should a small amount of water ever make it through the snorkel, it will collect harmlessly in the bottom of the air box.

Isn’t plastic going to be too weak for serious off-road use?

Nothing could be further from the truth. Cross-linked polyethylene is virtually indestructible. It’s what whitewater kayaks, bulldozer bushings, and cutting boards are manufactured out of.

Will the AEV Snorkel Kit work with an aftermarket cold air intake?

No, the AEV Snorkel Kit is designed for use with the OEM air box.

Where are AEV Snorkels manufactured?

All AEV Snorkels are proudly manufactured right here in Michigan!
