If you are looking to substantially improve the steering response and body-roll control of your 2.5″ to 6″ lifted JL Wrangler or Gladiator, look no further. AEV’s High-Steering Kit features custom steering knuckles, raised track-bar tower, heavy-duty draglink and tie-rod, plus a high-clearance steering damper relocation kit.

When combined, the components used in the AEV High Steer kit improve steering ground clearance and flatten the geometry of the draglink and track-bar, drawing the Jeep’s front roll-center closer to its center of gravity. The result is crisper turn-in steering feel and reduced body-roll during spirited driving.

– This kit requires the replacement of your factory JL/JT stabilizer damper. For optimal performance, we recommend using the AEV Steering Damper. This kit is incompatible with twin-tube or thru-rod stabilizer shocks. Other OEM-length monotube dampers may also be compatible.

– Aftermarket differential covers may necessitate modifications to fit the stabilizer shock tie rod bracket, and some may not be compatible at all. Compatible with the updated AEV Front Diff Cover (AJLZ1001AB). Owners of earlier AEV diff covers should lightly grind the cover to avoid contact with the stabilizer damper tie rod mount, preventing potential noise during full left turns. This modification is non-critical and cosmetic.

– Minimum 17” Diameter wheel must be used with up to 5.5″ of wheel backspacing (This is the stock JL Wrangler wheel offset).

– Compatible with all JL Rubicon models and JT Rubicon, Mojave, and Max Tow models. Can only be used with the wider width factory axles that are in the Rubicon, Mojave, and JT Max Tow models.

– Required minimum bump stop extension from stock (Gas=2.2in, Diesel=1in, 392=0.2in). Our kit includes two 1/2″ front bump stop spacers for customers who have the AEV 2.5″ DualSport suspension kit on their Gas 3.6L JL/JT; this extra bump stop is required for this engine variant.

Product FAQs

What is the benefit of adding this AEV High Steer Kit to my lifted JL or JT?

When you lift your Jeep, the geometry of the steering linkage and track bar is changed from the designed stock position. This can cause issues in the steering and stability of the vehicle while driving. The AEV High Steer Kit corrects and improves this geometry, greatly improving the stability and handling of the vehicle while also providing more ground clearance for your linkages to protect them from being hit while traversing rough terrain. Bump steer is virtually eliminated with this system.

Will this AEV High Steer Kit fit Right Hand Drive (RHD) vehicles?

No, this High Steer Kit will not work for RHD vehicles.

Does this kit require permanent modification

The kit does require drilling of an axle bracket, but the system is fully reversible and could be returned to stock with no ill effects. This kit retains the stock axle shafts, ball joints, unit bearings, and brakes.
