The 2023-2024 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 ZR2 Bison is an incredible off-road machine, built from the factory to tackle challenging terrain. But if you’re looking to maximize its potential and achieve an even more aggressive stance and capability, upgrading to 35″ tires is a common aspiration. These larger tires offer increased ground clearance and a dominant look, allowing you to confidently approach more difficult obstacles. Unfortunately, while the ZR2 Bison is capable, the factory setup isn’t designed with sufficient clearance for 35″ tires. Many owners quickly discover that upsizing from the stock tire size leads to frustrating rubbing, limited suspension travel, and even potential damage, especially when pushing the truck in dynamic off-road situations.

The low lift height of the AEV 35″ tire clearance kit prevents exceeding allowable ball joint and CV angles, unlike many taller aftermarket suspension kits on the market. The kit includes a 1″ Body Lift and Suspension Kit which features 1/2″ inch Body and Bed Spacers and a 1/2″ inch Strut Spacer for necessary controlled lift. In the rear, a 3″ inch Rear Spring Spacer replaces the OEM 2″ inch spacer. Crucially, the kit also provides precision-engineered brackets, accurate trim templates, and integrated closeout panels. - Will this work on vehicles without the AEV front bumper?
No, the front bumper closeouts are specific to the AEV bumper. Non-ZR2 Bison bumpers do not provide enough clearance for this size of tire.
- Will this fit on other trim levels or without flares?
No, the front fender closeouts are specific to the Bison ZR2.
- Will this work with factory wheels?
This kit will not work with factory wheels. 35x12.5 or equivalent tires will rub on the backside with factory offsets. AEV recommends 8" to 9" wide wheels with +5 to +12 millimeter offset.
- What tire size is required?
AEV recommends a 315/70R17 or 35x12.5 tire or smaller. There is limited room for turning and suspension articulation and going taller or wider will likely cause tire rubbing.
- Why don't the suspension spacers match the advertised lift height?
Due to the angle and position of the front struts, the provided half inch spacers give one inch of lift height to the vehicle. The three inch tall rear lift blocks replace the factory two inch block to provide one inch of suspension lift.
- Why doesn't this kit fit the 2025 model year?
This kit is specifically designed for the 2023-2024 model years. The key difference lies in the design of the leaf spring top plate. The 2025 model year features a rounded leaf spring top plate, whereas the 2023-2024 models have a flat design. Our current U-bolts are engineered to accommodate the flat plate, making them incompatible with the rounded 2025 design.
Customers with a 2025 model year vehicle can make this kit compatible by replacing their rounded leaf spring top plates with the flat-design plates. This modification will allow our U-bolts to fit correctly. The process involves clamping the leaf springs together and removing and reinstalling the leaf spring center pin nut swap the top plates. While our shop technicians found this to be a fairly straightforward task, we recommend that this procedure be performed by a qualified mechanic or an individual with experience in vehicle maintenance. The GM part number for the flat leaf spring top plate is 15733654. You will need to purchase two of these, as they are not side-specific. You can find this part at authorized GM parts retailers or by visiting websites like GM Parts Online.
