The Africana was based off a 1999 Jeep Cherokee and debuted at the 1999 SEMA Show in ARB's booth. It was completely decked out in ARB's color scheme and used all of their Cherokee components. The cut rear 3/4 and the electric retracting full size sunroof turned it into more of a 4DR Wrangler. There were actually two of these built, the other was in Chrysler's booth and was decked out with the latest in wildlife photography gear.

This was the last project we did "the old way", in other words, no fancy CAD systems and a ton of hand work. We cut up an MJ Comanche bedsides to top off the rear cut section. I later found out that we cut up the last of Chrysler's NOS bedsides and I'm sure there are some Comanche guys that will cringe when they hear that.
We used a lot of tubing and different sections to reinforce the rear of the vehicle and make a unique roll bar. I can't really remember just how much, but there was a ton of time spent on those roll bars. -dh
