You may love your TJ Wrangler's automatic-with-overdrive 4-speed transmission, but hate that it came with such a terribly low-hanging pan. That critical vulnerability makes your capable rig timid when you crawl it over unforgiving rocks. Nothing will halt your fun faster than a Jeep that can't move because the transmission has no fluid due to a puncture, crushed pan, or even just a 'touched' one that broke the RTV seal (this trans does not use a gasket!).

Unlike the stock transmission skid supplied by the factory (or even oversize 'surf board' skids that attempt to cover everything including empty air space), this multi-piece design is stout enough to actually support the entire vehicle even on a pointed rock under the trans pan. The skid itself hugs the transmission much closer than the stock design, saving precious inches of clearance (only 1.0" lower than the main Tummy Tucker skid) and can be easily removed with just four bolts for service work. Also, the separate cross member that supports the front of this skid is designed to pass above the front driveshaft rather than under it, so it's compatible with any amount of suspension height.

This skid is the perfect compliment to our 4-speed-specific version of the Tummy Tucker center skid plate required to use this skid, and will fit all years and models of TJ Wrangler equipped with the 42RLE transmission.
