Cordura® Seat Covers FAQ

What makes AEV Cordura® Seat Covers different from other seat covers that are available?

In addition to a great fit and colors selected to match the Wrangler’s stock interior, AEV’s Seat Covers are made from Cordura®. Cordura® is a fabric originally developed by DuPont and now manufactured by Invista for various military applications. It became commercially successful in the late 1970s as a fabric for backpacks and luggage. This super-durable fabric eventually made its way into the outdoor clothing market where it enjoys continued success.

The most common material used for seat covers is neoprene. While neoprene is water resistant, as contact time with water increases it eventually begins to hold water rather than repel it. Think of a wetsuit that holds a thin layer of water against your skin. It is also not nearly as durable as Cordura® and can start showing signs of wear after minimal use. Cordura® is 100% waterproof and allows water to bead up and roll away. It is designed to keep from wearing and fraying for years. Cordura® is simply the best solution for keeping your Wrangler’s seats dry, clean and looking new.

Why do I need seat covers?

AEV’s Cordura® Seat Covers are a no-brainer for off-road enthusiasts who love splashing around in mud puddles with their windows down or their doors off. The 1000 denier Cordura® will not only keep your seats dry, but it is easily wiped down or machine laundered at the end of the day. They are also a great option for Wrangler owners who simply want to reduce daily wear and tear that occurs from rowdy kids, dirty dogs and food/drink spills.
